Can I trust this?

A registry is only as good as what it refuses to claim.

Every sentence published here was read out of the instrument itself. Nothing is paraphrased into an answer, nothing is inferred from a headline, and nothing is filled in because the shape of a table wanted a value.

How a line gets published

  1. The source document is retained. Not a summary, not a news item, not a law-firm alert — the enrolled bill, the codified section, the official journal. The file is kept with its SHA-256.
  2. The operative sentence is quoted, not described. With its citation down to the subsection, and the date it was read.
  3. The quote is tested against the file, character by character. A machine checks what a careful reader cannot: that the sentence on this page is the sentence in that file.
  4. What the file is gets printed too. An enrolled bill is not a session law; a final act is not a signed one. Where the class of the document limits what may be claimed, the page says so on the row.
  5. What has not been checked is shown, not hidden. A blank is a blank. It never renders as a no.

The limits, stated

Byte-testing proves a quote matches the file that was retained. It does not prove that file is the act, nor that it is the version in force. Those are separate checks, and where one has not been done, the page says which.

Two observatories, one registry of sources

This site and the Observatório de Responsabilização de IA em Saúde are built on the same body of retained primary sources — 21 instruments across 11 jurisdictions. They are not translations of each other and are not meant to become one: this edition reads U.S. law for a U.S. reader; the Portuguese edition covers Brazil, the United States and the European Union for a reader who works in Portuguese. The emphases already differ, and they will keep diverging.

They share sources, not sentences.

What ties them is stated in machine-readable form rather than asserted: the same curator, identified by ORCID, and the same dataset of primary sources, cited by both. Neither site declares the other a language version of itself.

Corrections

If a sentence here does not match the instrument, that is a defect and it gets fixed in public, with a note of what changed and when. Write to cassiana@healthaiobservatory.org with the citation.
